Introducing the Range Input


We have had the date slider chart for some time now for dynamically filtering charts by date. Now we also have a range input, which can help you filter your charts by a numeric range! Let’s see it in action.

I have the following chart showing meteorite hits across the world (data courtesy of the fine folks at NASA):

There’s a really large range in the mass of these meteorites, ranging from 0.1 grams to 3,000,000 grams. The few larger ones are crowding the many little ones making them harder to inspect, so let’s filter some of those out with a range input. On the right-hand side of your dashboard, add a range input like so:

In the modal that appeared, I made a range from 0 to 3 million. The precision is 100,000, meaning that as you slide the value it will snap to values that are multiples of 100,000. Then I went into my chart and made a filter like so:

Now I can get more insight into those smaller meteorites:
